Sesame or til is a popular spice that is used in myriad ways to create lip-smacking delicacies across the globe, but did you know that you can also use it to take care of your hair? Yes, you heard us right. Sesame seeds contain essential nutrients that work wonders in strengthening your hair and keeping it healthy and radiant. It comes packed with antioxidants, rich omega fatty acids, vitamins and minerals, and is known for its anti-inflammatory, moisturising and healing properties. Sesame seeds also contain the highest amount of oil as compared to any other seed.
Both, sesame seeds and sesame oil, should be included in your hair care regime to prevent common hair related problems such as hair fall, dry and brittle hair, split ends or an itchy scalp. If you have been experiencing any of these issues, we list out three easy ways to use sesame to get things under control:
Sesame oil is touted to be an excellent ingredient to deal with hair fall issues. Because it contains omega-3, omega-6 and omega-9 fatty acids and vitamins, they help in providing the much needed nutrients to your hair follicles and improving their strength and texture. Warm about quarter cup sesame oil and use it to gently massage your scalp. It will penetrate deeper to boost blood circulation and improve hair quality. Leave it on for an hour or overnight and wash with a mild shampoo.
The antifungal, antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties of sesame seeds contribute to cleaning clogged pores and keeping the scalp healthy. Add two teaspoons of sesame oil to one tablespoon of aloe vera gel, and apply this mixture on your scalp and massage gently. Wash with a mild shampoo.
Sesame seeds act as an excellent hair conditioner as it deeply nourishes dry, damaged hair and retains moisture. Thus it prevents split ends and brittle hair. Mix half a cup of ground sesame seeds with two tablespoons yoghurt and one tablespoon honey, and apply on the scalp and hair. Leave it on for 15 minutes before washing with a mild shampoo.
Take care of your hair naturally and keep it radiant.
