There's no one who doesn't know and love turmeric. From being sprinkled in curries in the kitchen to being coaxed to apply it by our grandmas, it's a favourite from the spice rack. And that isn't only for its striking yellow shade.
Turmeric is jam packed with calcium, Vitamin C, potassium and magnesium. Together, they heal the skin, fight bacteria and slow down the ageing process. It's no wonder that it's such a loved spice all through the country. To add the magic of turmeric to your beauty routine, try these face packs to purify, brighten and heal your skin.
1. The dry skin pack
Combine 3 tablespoons of curd with the pulp of half an avocado. Mash them to form a thick paste. Add a single pinch of turmeric to it and mix well. Apply this pack all over your face and neck then let it sit for 30 - 40 minutes. Once done, wash with warm water. Turmeric is a healing agent and when combined with nourishing avocado and curd, the face pack will moisturise away any dryness.
2. The acne prone pack
If you spot dreadful pimples cropping up on your skin, this face pack will do the job. In a bowl, mix together half a teaspoon of lemon juice and apple cider vinegar with 1 teaspoon of turmeric and 1 tablespoon honey. Apply this face pack liberally, especially over pimples and scars. After 40 minutes, wash with warm water. Curcumin, which is present in turmeric, combats acne-causing bacteria while lemon, apple cider and honey reduce infection and brighten dark skin.
3. The dull skin pack
If there's one thing turmeric is most famous for, it's brightening because it leaves the complexion radiant completely naturally. Try it for yourself by combining 1 teaspoon of turmeric with 1 tablespoon sandalwood powder and 1 tablespoon of cold milk.
