Bidding the winter months goodbye and saying hello to months of hot and dry weather is more than just a tad bit sad. There's no denying that. The humidity that follows in some of these hot months is not a girl's best friend by any measure either. Now you be sorry to see the heat take over your life, but your skin doesn't have to be. As you progress from cool winter months to months that sanction heat waves, it's time to take extra precautions to keep your skin happy. There are a whole slew of beauty dilemmas to worry about now that it's the month of June. Here are a few summer beauty mistakes you could be making. Watch out, you could be missing out on that summer glow thanks to these mistakes.
1. You're skipping the moisturiser
When the weather starts to get hot and sticky, the last thing you feel like doing is adding a layer of moisturiser to your skin. This right here is a big beauty mistake. The heat can obliterate the essential oils and hydration from your skin, making it even more important for you to add that moisture back to your skin. Skin that is used to being hydrated and moisturized regularly can start producing extra oil in order to make up for the sudden lack of it. Not adding moisturiser to your skin, even in the summer, causes it to go into dehydration mode, which then leads to the excessive oil production. We all know what that means - breakouts and patchy skin.
Instead, if you don't feel like using the same cold creams or other thick moisturisers that you used in the winter, try and opt for lighter, more summer friendly formulas.
2. You haven't switched from your winter formulas
You might have been using a thick, full coverage foundation during the winter - but for the sake of your pores, it would be wise to switch to something lighter and oil free for the summer months. Even when it comes to your mascaras and eyeliners, try opting for waterproof formulas. The last thing you need is black streaks across your face thanks to the sweat you're bound to face.
3. You're going overboard with the powder
In an attempt to control shine, women often end up touching their face up with pressed powder through the day. This powder mixed with excess oils and sweat on the face can result in a cakey mess. Instead, try and opt for a translucent powder to mattify the skin rather than using a mineral or foundation powder that will add coverage to the skin.
