Taking a shower can seem simple enough. You hop in, suds up, wash off and hop out. That's only partly true. There are plenty of mistake you're probably making in the bathroom which are unhygienic, unnecessary and terrible for your skin. Wondering what they are? Then read on to know 5 mistakes that are commonly made in the shower. If you make any of them, it's about time you turned them around.
1. You Take Too Long
Who doesn't love a relaxing shower. You scrub and catch up on your thoughts, all while belting out Drake's latest single. Soon enough, you've sung the entire album. If this sounds familiar, you're showering for much longer than necessary. Not only is it a waste of water, you're also stripping your skin of moisture and causing pruning.
2. You Don't Ditch Your Loofah
A loofah is a great way to get the grit from tricky places but try and remember when you last replaced yours. Daily or regularly used loofahs collect dirt and dead skin cells when used which accumulate over time and make them extremely unhygienic. We're pretty sure this will make you replace yours right away.
3. It's Too Hot
Especially after a long day, standing under a warm shower can feel like a cosy blanket. But that doesn't mean it's necessarily good for you. Water that's too hot can remove the skin's natural oils and cause inflammation, making it overly dry and itchy.
4. You Overwash Your Hair
If you opt to shower rather than bathe, in all probability you end up washing your hair in the bargain too. If it's a daily routine for you, your hair can get washed more than necessarily. This can sap sebum from your scalp which will lead it to become dry and frizzy. That's why it's a good idea to keep a shower cap handy.
5. You Forget Crevices
Comments
While you'll never forget to scrub your head and hands in the bathroom, there are many spots that are often missed. We're talking about the behind the ears, between the toes, armpits and back of the neck. All of these are exposed daily and need detailed attention to clean them up.
