We were always hesitant to follow the DIY manicure process. But the time spent indoors and distancing ourselves from the crowd has made us embrace this DIY beauty trend. Well, turns out it isn't that hard to give yourself the perfect salon-grade manicure. Heathy manicures and nail art - they are all within our reach. You just need to have the tools, guidance and patience to pull off the perfect manicure that you can show around. With a few steps, you can achieve a polished, clean look. Although this is an elaborate process that requires the correct tools, we break down the step-by-step process that you can follow to give yourself a manicure at home.
Follow These Steps To Do A Manicure At Home
1. Cleaning The Nail
To begin with, you can't achieve a clean manicure if you have remnants of a past one. Soak the cotton with nail polish remover and clean your nails. Most nail polish removers contain alcohol, but you can also opt for alcohol free removers.
2. Shape the Nail
If required, first trim the nail so they are all the same length. Then, with your file, file in one direction only. While filing your nails, be gentle and avoid doing it with excessive force. Just smoothen the lines and rough edges left behind by the nail clipper.
3. Tending To The Cuticles
Wipe your nails and hands and massage some cuticle cream onto your nails. Then, take your pusher and push your cuticle back towards the knuckle. Be gentle in this process to avoid abrasions. Follow up with a cuticle oil.
4. Moisturise Enough
Massage your hands with a hand moisturiser. Your focus should be on your fingers and the area around your nails. Make sure both the oil and hand creams are fully absorbed to apply base polish.
5. Finishing It
Use a clear nail polish as a base coat. This will help your desired nail polish shade to last longer. Once the base coat is dry, apply a thin coat of your favourite nail polish on top of it. Let all of it dry and your manicure is good to flaunt.
