Previously a rather ignored part of makeup routines, blush is now an everyday favourite. Over the years, we've grown used to seeing blush as a pressed powder in a pan. A modern reinvention was well in order. The SUGAR Cosmetics Face Fwd range of blush sticks are close enough. Following in the footsteps of brands like Colorbar, they continue their innovative streak of trendy products the brand is renowned for. We tried the blush stick out for a few weeks and here's what we thought.
The blush shade I've used is 01 Coral Climax. The range includes 2 more shades, a mauve and a pink. The product is of a cream consistency in a stick form that is retractable at the bottom. The colours are buildable and claim to give a flawless matte finish. They are priced at Rs 799 for each.
The first thing you will notice about this product is its intimidatingly bright coral shade. However, once blended on the cheeks it does not appear as bright. Its creamy consistency makes blending extremely easily. The brand recommends a sponge or your fingers but I'd suggest using freshly washed finger tips to blend it outwards as your body heat helps it glide over the face.
A highlight of this product is how incredibly pigmented it is. Even a dab of it the size of your finger tip is enough for the cheek. If you aren't cautious, it's very easy to go overboard, apply excess and veer into clownish territory. It has a finish of a pure matte without any shimmer particles, which lends a very natural look to the face and stays put for a good 5-6 hours.
It is encased in a retractable stick which I found very easy to travel with. I've carried this product on multiple trips and applied blush with it in minutes, with only my fingertips as my beauty tools.
Apart from the issues with the cover, there's nothing not to love about this blush stick. With shades perfectly suited for Indian skin tones, it is an excellent choice to tuck into your handbag. As you end up using an extremely small quantity each time, it will last a very long time.
