Hair is after all a protein and consists of three layers. Various chemical treatments cause the hair to lose the protein from the thickest layer of the hair which is called cortex. If used properly, coconut oil can reduce protein loss.
Coconut oil healthily penetrates hair shaft and can thus protect the hair from dryness thereby replenishing moisture.

DIY Coconut Hair Mask Recipes
Take 2 tablespoons of organic coconut oil in melted form in a bowl and add a whisked egg to it. Mix it until it gets blended completely. Wet your hair with a spray bottle and apply the coconut oil mixture to damp hair, from roots to the tips. Keep the mixture on your head for 15 to 20 minutes before you rinse it off with lukewarm water.
Add one tablespoon of organic raw honey and one tablespoon of organic coconut oil to a saucepan. Heat the mixture and stir it to make it smooth. Let it cool down and then apply it to your damp hair. Keep the mask for around 40-45 minutes before you wash it off using lukewarm water.
