Everyone associates all things vibrant and sunny with summer. It's also the only time of the year when bright hues and pop tones are acceptable. While we acknowledge that in TV shows and magazines, very rarely do we see it translate from a reel to a real makeup look. When it finally did, it was (unsurprisingly) Sonam Kapoor who made it happen.
A day ago, Sonam Kapoor attended a watch event by IWC Schaffhausen in Dubai and we're pretty sure all eyes were everywhere else but on her wrist. True to her fanciful sense of style, Sonam wore a layered ensemble which was styled by sister Rhea. It was a white blazer with matching suit trousers in a relaxed fit that cut off at the knee, both from Delpozo. At the neck was a polka dot layer peeping through and around her waist, a tan belt with an oversized blue flower. And we aren't done yet. In the footwear department, a tan pair of pumps with a white detail made the outfit.
But truly the cherry on the sundae that was this ensemble was the makeup look that accompanied it. Created by genius Namrata Soni (all hail!), Sonam's look comprised of a flawlessly finished face, rosy cheeks and defined brows. Stealing the show are a wash of yellow shadow on the eyelids and glossy pastel pink on the lips.
Still more was the hairstyle paired with this outfit; a top bun in her hair pinned together with bobby pins. Props for the pins matching the makeup look with their pink shade.
So how does this look fare on the style charts? While the outfit does verge towards OTT, it has an eccentric appeal which has come to be associated with Sonam. For the makeup look, in theory it is summer perfection and does look magical in an Alice in Wonderland sort-of way. Although it works beautifully in pictures, it won't translate very well for regular wear, unless toned down quite a bit.
