While hair tools can completely transform one's mane, it's often at the cost of tangled charging cords, a bulky bag when carried on a journey and if overused, dry and brittle strands in the long run. Dyson, ever one to be on the forefront of technology, ticked off many such concerns with the launch of their hair straightener, the Dyson Corrale. We at NDTV Swirlster experienced the premium new hairstyler for a couple of weeks and today, here's what we think about the hair straightener that Bollywood celebrities cannot stop raving about.
Packing Of The Dyson Corrale
The straightener is in classic Dyson colours of nickel and fuchsia but there's also a purple option. It comes in a luxurious roll-up travel case which can be tied with a ribbon. This also doubles up as a heat-resistant pad for the heated product; a helpful touch. The complete kit includes a charging dock to place the straightener upright when charging and a charging cable which slides in it at the bottom. With its transparent stand and bright pink base, the dock looks extremely attractive but its use can be eliminated if you plug the straightener directly into the cable, without it being place in the stand. When travelling especially, this can lighten up on the weight of the dock.
The straightener has a very useful lock setting which holds both arms in place. The OLED screen displays temperature settings very clearly as well as battery notifications. The chime sounds are a well-thought out feature that lets you know when it has heated, battery is low and it is charging. Even if you aren't physically near it, you will be alerted of its functions if you're in the same room. The airplane plug is a nice touch for frequent travelers to simply pull out, deactivate the battery and tuck into your cabin baggage. The outer body doesn't feel hot to touch when straightening so you won't have to worry about burning your fingers.
Use And Feel Of The Dyson Corrale
Its flexing plates are the highlight of this Dyson launch and from all the straighteners I've used through the years, the Corrale worked noticeably quicker than them. One or two slow strokes along the hair section are enough to get straight, sleek hair. This makes it quicker to move through sections and further, to spend on hairstyling. My mid-length hair was straightened completely in minutes and to add to my delight, even a day later, the effect was still very much visible.
Its ability to be used cordless makes it an absolute dream to use; approximately 30 minutes of it can be gotten in a single charge. However the weight of the battery is noticeably felt, especially if you spend longer time holding it and styling. It is amazing how much the Corrale improves the styling experience but just cutting the cord, literally. Without the hassle of cords and wires, it's possible to style hair in waves or curls without getting tangled in the charging cord; something you cannot do easily with a corded styler. Post styling, my hair felt sleek and silken and even after multiple trials, never dry or brittle. Priced at approximately Rs 36,900 and it's a steep price for a hair styler but considering the long term heat damage you avoid, ease of use from its thoughtful design and visibly sleek results, it's an investment piece if you're a hairstyle lover.
What Swirlster Says
