Beauty Checklist To Tick Off Before You Head Out To Play Holi

In order to prevent acne, rashes and reactions on your skin, swear by these Holi skincare tips:

1. Apply Coconut Or Mustard Oil

Dry skin allows chemicals to penetrate the body easily, therefore, it is always suggested that you apply coconut oil or mustard oil on your entire body. You can also use mustard oil. Don't forget to apply oil between fingertips, near fingernails and also behind the ear.

2. Don't Forget The Sunscreen

While you always have the option to apply oil on your face as well, many prefer not to. In such cases, you must apply a thick layer of moisturiser which will act as a protective layer or barrier preventing colours from staying on your face. Don't forget to apply sunscreen after moisturising your body. Always pick a gel-based sunscreen which is waterproof and has SPF above 25. It is safe to carry sunscreen along. If you're in the sun for more than 3 hours, you can always re-apply it.

3. Avoid Facial Or Razor

Avoid getting a facial or using a razor right before Holi celebrations. Whenever you get a facial or use a razor on the face, it opens up your pores. When done before Holi, there are high chances of colours along with other impurities getting stuck in the pores, causing breakouts, infections, and a lot more.

4. Wear Sunglasses

You can apply moisturisers, oils and sunscreens to save your body but what about the eyes? The eyes are extremely sensitive, and the chemical content in the colours can cause irritation, which may lead to allergies. Make sure you don't apply any eye makeup before heading out for celebrations. And, always wear a pair of sunglasses to protect them. In case, the colour ends up entering your eyes, wash them immediately with cold water. If irritation persists even after a few hours of playing Holi, contact an eye specialist.
