No matter how hard you try, it can seem like dark circles just can't be prevented. Whether they've appeared due to a restless night or poor diet, the reasons can be numerous. While they can take abundant patience to banish completely, the next best thing is to conceal them using makeup. Here's how you can get cover up dark circles with makeup in just 5 simple steps.
Step 1: Moisturise
Moisturise your face as you usually would. Don't forget to apply some in the under eye area as well, massaging the moisturiser lightly from inwards to out and using the gentle pressure of your ring finger.
Step 2: Prime
Wait for 2-3 minutes for your moisturiser to be completely absorbed. Then use your ring finger to apply primer in the eye area too. Priming will even out the skin and prevent any makeup from creasing.
Step 3: Colour Correct
Once primer has set after 3 - 5 minutes, start colour correcting. For darker skin tones, red toned colour correctors work well on dark circles. On lighter, wheatish toned skin, an orange toned colour corrector will do the trick. Apply it all over the darkened eye area and let it dry naturally for a minute or two. Colour correction neutralizes the darkened area so that it can look bright and fresh. It may look funny now but don't worry, that'll change with the next step.
Step 4: Conceal
Choose a cream or liquid concealer that's a shade lighter than your own skin tone. Using its applicator or a narrow brush, apply it under your eye area until the upper cheek area in the shape of an inverted triangle. Then dampen a makeup sponge and use it to blend the concealer until all the product is absorbed.
Step 5: Powder
Comments
For your final step, turn to translucent powder. This is integral because it will soak up any oils, prevent creasing and keep the layers of makeup firmly in place. Dab a dry triangular makeup sponge in translucent powder and press it onto the undereye area. Allow it to sit for 5 minutes and dust off the excess with a fluffy brush.
