Whipping up a good face mask is a beauty ritual saved for long afternoons or when your skin needs some loving. However, it isn't very often that vegans can feel that way. With most kitchen ingredients containing animal derivatives of some kind, quickly mixing together a DIY vegan face mask isn't all that easy. Or is it? For professional advice, we went to the expert. The effervescent Sargam Dhawan Bhayana is the director of Paul Penders Botanicals, one of the world's oldest vegan and cruelty-free skincare brands which has its roots in Holland from the early 1900s. Sargam gave us a glimpse of the secrets which are responsible for her radiant skin and shared 2 DIY vegan face masks which she loves to use. Follow these vegan beauty recipes to try them at home.
1. Orange And Rose Face Mask
Unpeel 2-3 oranges and place the skins under direct sunlight for 10-12 hours or until shriveled. The same can also be done quicker in an oven or microwave if you aren't experiencing sunny climate. The end result should be orange peels that are dry and free of moisture. Grind them until they are powder with small sized particles. Combine 1 tablespoon of orange peel powder in a bowl with 1 teaspoon of rose water. Adjust proportions according to how thick or thin you prefer. Leave the mask on for 30 minutes and wash off with room temperature water.
Sargam adds, "Orange peel is great for the skin as it fights acne and keeps blemishes at bay. Rose water is very cooling. I use this pack almost 3 times a week during summers."

2. Banana, Turmeric And Mint Face Mask
Unpeel a small banana and use a fork to mash it in a bowl. Add half a teaspoon of turmeric and a palm full of torn mint leaves to it. Mix thoroughly into a thick paste. Wash your hands well and use it to apply the mask on your face. Leave it for 15-20 minutes and wash off with water.
Sargam says, "Banana is rich in potassium and is an excellent hydrator. Turmeric has many benefits like keeping the skin supple and fighting acne. Mint is great to cool and calm the skin. I use this face mask weekly."
