We all have boundaries, some of us are ferocious about our space - physical and mental. Not just that, we are also careful about who we want to let into our spaces, comfort zone and life. Who wants unnecessary drama, disappointment or failed relationships later? But in all honesty, there are times when we come across someone who doesn't respect our boundaries, our space; not just that, they fail to get the hint that you are just not interested in having them be a part of your life.
Maybe it's the rejection that they can't deal with, maybe it's an innate need to be validated. Either way, it is essential to let them know they need to back off. So how do you do that without hurting them or seeming rude? Here are some things to keep in mind.

Talk to them when it's just the two of you
Confronting them in front of everyone might be hurtful and insulting. Find some time when they are alone to talk to them. Also, a good time to talk will be when you are calm and not riding high on frustration or anger.

Be straightforward
Whether it is a family member who you want to communicate with, a friend, a person who has feelings for you which you can't return - whoever, you have to be clear, direct and let them know why you want them to leave you alone and how they are crossing their limits. There needs to be no ambiguity. Even if it is someone who insists you spend time with them, be clear and let them know that you are just not interested.
Don't feel guilty
Your space, your decision of who you want to dedicate your time and life to is your right, your choice. Don't feel guilty about how you are making the other person feel. This is about you, not them.
