Love comes in so many shapes and forms. And no matter how many romance movies they make, they can't compete with the bond between a mother and daughter. I consider myself blessed to have a mother who not only loves me unconditionally, but also inspires me everyday. I can only hope to be half as graceful, accomplished and caring as she is one day. Here's everything I would like to tell here on my wedding day... If I can say anything through the tears, that is.
1. Getting married doesn't change the fact that I'm still your little girl.
I'll need you to fix me when I get sick. I'll still need your help when I'm confused between two sarees or two jobs. You always helped me before and that's not going to change. I'm not 'paraya dhan' and 'kanyadan' is just a wedding ritual, not something to be taken literally - so don't even think that's how it's going to work here.
2. I'm sorry about all the grief I gave you while planning the wedding.
And also for all the grief I have given you while growing up. But thanks for letting me give you grief - I know I rebelled against you more than you would have liked, but thanks for making me believe that I could be my own person, despite what you thought about my decisions.
3. Your advice is gold. And if you think the days of you giving it to me are over, think again.
Oh no. I'll need your words of wisdom now, more than ever before. I might have never admitted it to you, but you've helped me make some of the most difficult decisions of my life. You're always right, ma. I don't know how, maybe it's a mom thing and I'll only understand when I join that club. But even then, I think I'll keep looking for you when I arrive at a crossroads in life.
4. You are, and always were, the coolest mom.
You let me have sleepovers without fussing at all. I've always had the coolest and most awesome birthday cakes, for as long as I can remember. You always tried to understand my side of things instead of just yelling at me for failing at something (mostly my exams). You're an awesome mom. Seriously.
5. I admire you more than you will ever know.
I know your life story, you never really hid it from me. You've shared some of your deepest regrets and feelings with me. And they've only made me admire you even more. All of the sacrifices you've made in life to make sure that I would not have to make any... There is no way I can ever repay you for that.
6. You're still my number 1.
You'll always come first ma, no matter what. You've always put me first and it's really the least I can do for you. You mean so much to me, and now that I'm a little bit smarter than when I was a teenager, I can't stop looking for ways to do something for you. You make it really hard, you're so independent and you always say you don't need anything. But I'm going to be right there when you finally need me like I need you.

For being my role model. For helping me become the person I am today. For being a superwoman for most of your life. For being my mom.
