Breakups are hard. Period. Very seldom do you find people actually celebrating after a relationship that they invested their time and effort in, ends. More importantly, if you fell in love with the person you were with, there's hardly any room to rejoice when you realise a breakup is in order. But sometimes, no matter how much it breaks your heart to move away from the person that once made it skip a beat, it is necessary. You might not see it in the immediate aftermath of your heartbreak, but sometimes, breaking up is the best thing you can do for yourself. Surely, you know that somewhere too; that's why you let it happen.
You may be upset now, but if you were constantly dealing with the following things in your relationship, you should be really happy you broke up. You'll see and feel it soon too, don't worry.
1. You were jealous, of everything and everyone
While feeling a tinge of jealousy at the thought of your partner being more fond of someone else than you is normal, it's also normal in a healthy, balanced relationship, to let that feeling go soon after. If you were holding onto that jealousy and letting it fester, take over your mind and drive away your sanity, it is not okay. It indicates a much deeper issue within the relationship and signifies the lack of trust towards your partner and the insecurity you experience being in that relationship. Being in a relationship like that, no matter who actually might be at fault, is just not healthy.
2. You were constantly worried about what he/she was doing when you were apart
We're talking incessantly checking his social media, his friends' social media and the social media feeds of anyone you knew could even possibly be in the vicinity. Or let's talk about how it would drive you crazy every time he/she didn't pick up your calls or replied to your messages after a few hours. In a good, healthy relationship, that shouldn't happen. You shouldn't resort to becoming your most paranoid self just because your partner might not have been able to answer your call. Again, it comes down to the lack of trust - and a relationship without trust is just not a relationship worth being in.
3. You were afraid to have open conversations about what you really wanted
You got so caught up in being the 'cool' girlfriend that you had to basically drown out your actual opinions. You didn't want to say when someone in his life made you uncomfortable or when you wanted to take the next step in your relationship out of fear of being rejected or ridiculed. See, that is not a relationship you could be happy in long-term.
