Summer calls for colours and prints the way winter calls for layering. Nothing sets the tone and the perfect summer vibe the way quirky, funky and fun prints do. Prints are something both men and women can incorporate into their summer wardrobe in the form of shirts, tops, kurtas, dresses, et al. Not so long ago, we had listed down a few places where you can shop for some amazing fabrics from - and now we are narrowing down on the fabrics that you shouldn't miss adding to your wardrobe this season.
Kalamkari
A hand-painted or block-printed cotton textile that brings a lot of colour, quirk, and coolness to your look (depending on the print you choose), the Kalamkari fabric is nowadays mostly printed. In the olden days, though, it was a kalam (a pen) that was bringing the fabric to life with a wide range of motifs and prints.
Indigo
A colour that you fall in love with faster than you can say "pretty!" From the British Raj to now, the dye, and then the fabric has been close to everyone's hearts for a long time. The light fabric makes for beautiful and breathable clothes, and the various prints bring in a lot of variety as to what you can get made.
Batik
Originally from Indonesia, Batik prints is now huge in West Bengal and Gujarat. The prints are printed on the fabrics with hot wax, then dyed, and then de-waxed. The results are usually vibrant and colorful fabrics that work amazingly as a summer fabric.
