Months later, some of are still obsessing over last year's Versace reunion of five 'supers' - Cindy Crawford, Naomi Campbell, Claudia Schiffer, Helena Christensen and Carla Bruni. It was a reminder, if nothing else, that models can become as iconic as the designers whose clothes they wear - more so, very often. From spectacular magazine covers to stunning photoshoots and runway walks, the one thing that ties all of them together and makes them look doubly better is the right model. No matter how glitzy the event is or how drop-dead gorgeous the couture is, the model can make or break it. India may not have reached Cindy-Naomi-Claudia level yet, but Carol Gracias' catwalk while pregnant a couple of years ago was a moment to remember. Here are seven names making it big on the Indian fashion scene.
Nidhi Sunil
You've definitely come across this dusky beauty on at least one of the glossies you've picked up. Before entering the glamorous world of modeling, Nidhi started out as a lawyer and later, won the Femina Miss India South title. Since then, there's been no stopping this lady and the intense 'smize' she gives the camera.
Priya Banerjee
What sets Priya apart from the rest are her luscious tresses and candor in front of the camera. She's a frequent sight at Indian fashion weeks and has walked the ramp for the likes of Vineet Bahl and Shivan and Narresh. We already can't wait to spot this beauty at fashion season.
Bhumika Arora
One of India's most stylish exports, Bhumika hails from Karnal but hit success on foreign shores in 2016. Along with having modelled for designer heavyweights like Chanel and Balmain, Bhumika has also covered international magazines like Elle UK and is a freshly minted Instagram star.
Erika Packard
Now here's a lady whose run in front of the camera isn't surprising at all. Daughter of late Bollywood actor Gavin Packard, Erica was scouted in a market place when shopping with her mother and what a long way she's come since then. From filling magazine pages with her beautiful pictures to walking the ramp for India's top designers like Anita Dongre, we can't wait to see what's in store for Erika.
Pooja Mor
When Pooja won the Fresh Face awards in Ahmedabad in 2012, little did she know she would go on to become a top model, not only in India but internationally too. After a few editorial spreads, Pooja's Instagram picture was spotted by a New York based image consultant, which led her to walk the ramp for designers like Louis Vuitton and Givenchy amongst others. If that's not a sparkling success story, we don't know what is.
Rachel Bayros
A single glance at Rachel Bayros isn't enough because this lady right here is a complete head turner. What started her career was the Kingfisher Fresh Face title which slowly led to designer runways not just in India, but abroad as well. From Sabaysachi to Ritu Kumar, Rachel has associated with these Indian design houses and one look at her is enough to see why.
Diva Dhawan
After spending her childhood in the empire state, Diva landed on the ramp at the tender age of 14 and since then, there's been no looking back. She was always interested in fashion so along with walking the ramp for designers like Manish Arora and JJ Valaya, Diva also studied fashion merchandising. What's not to love about beauty and brains?
Now, can fashion season start already?
