Our living spaces are a reflection of who we are. More and more of us want to come back home to a beautiful home which we call our own, and for good measure considering the taxing lives we live. Our havens, den, our roof under the sun, the place we lick our wounds, grow, sleep, and mostly chill in should be comfortable, warm and reflect our personalities.
The home is where the heart is they say, so how about taking some time (and tips) to make your room homely and heartwarming.
Few easy tips, a weekend, and you can easily revamp yours to look more classy and nice.
1. Keep it clean
Don't clutter the room up; too much of anything ruins the effect - take some time and throw ut anything that isn't needed. The idea is to give the idea of spaciousness in limited space. Push the furniture pieces to the four walls of the room which leaves the space in the centre to you.
2. Add some lights
No, not the white tube light. I am talking yellow fairy lights, stream of bulbs, statement lamps...the likes. They add an ambient touch to the room and give off warm vibes. In short, they have the room happy.
3. Think plants and flowers
I know you might scoff but apart from building your taking-care skills, indoor plants are a great touch to any room. Buying fresh flowers also does the trick - a pop of color for your room. What is that hash tag? #GoodVibesOnly.
4. Mirror on the wall
One full length for one side of the room, or a beautifully framed mirror on the wall - whatever the choice, mirrors change the way a room looks. There are a lot of vintage, elegant frames available in the market for one to choose from.
5. Accent furniture
The one thing, and just one, that draws (and compliments) when someone walks into the room. Statement furniture that can be thrifted from an old furniture market is a beautiful way to add some personality to your room - it can be a beautiful vintage chair, a distressed chest of drawers, a French trunk, a chintz armchair, the likes.
6. Get quirky with decor
Take an old ladder, put it against a wall, and deck it up with fairy lights. Or get empty wall frames and mount them on the wall in a pattern. Invest in some printed bed sheets or patchwork quilt. But with these, make sure these things standalone.
7. Don't overkill
The idea is to keep it simple and clean. Another good idea will be to paint the walls white, they make the room look spacious and cleaner. But any way, make sure you don't have too many things that draw everyone's attention and overwhelms the senses.
