If there's one fashion designer who can proudly claim to have dressed all the leading ladies in Bollywood for multiple occasions, it would be none other than Manish Malhotra. The master designer is known for his glamorous creations using traditional colours, intricate craftsmanship, textures and embroideries. Being associated with Mijwan Welfare Society, an NGO headed by Shabana Azmi and Namrata Goyal, Manish Malhotra has been actively promoting age-old Indian regional handicrafts and workmanship - handloom textiles from Varanasi or Punjab's Phulkari technique - through his stunning range of clothing.
In the recently held Mijwan Fashion Show in Mumbai, Manish Malhotra showcased a sparkling collection of lehenga-cholis and anarkali suits highlighting the exquisite craft of chikankari this time. While plunging necklines and cut-out detailing were prominent in the cholis and kurtas, floral motifs, heavy embroidery detailing and sparkly embellishments were seen throughout his collection. Showstoppers Deepika Padukone's ivory lehenga-choli and Ranbir's heavily embroidered black bandhgala were ravishing examples of the magic Manish Malhotra can spin with his designing expertise.
Needless to say, the fashion brigade eagerly looks forward to Manish Malhotra's fashion shows, which are nothing short of spectacular. His muse Kareena Kapoor Khan is often spotted as a showstopper on the ramp. For a Manish Malhotra fashion show in Singapore in March, we saw Kareena wear a shimmery silver lehenga-choli from his Summer Couture 2018 Collection and looked like every bit a diva.
For his fashion show in Pune, Aditi Rao Hydari wore a pastel pink lehenga from his Summer Couture 2018 collection, which had dainty crystal embroidery art.
Whereas Radhika Apte's mesmerising beige gown with plunging neck and an embellished cape - another creation from the summer collection - made her look like a dream.
Then there was Nushrat Bharucha in a densely beaded gown with delicate tassel detailing.
Here are some more styles from his recent Mijwan Fashion show:
From the looks of it, the summer collection is all about pastel shades, plunging necklines and delicate fabric, without missing out on sparkly and beaded embellishments and striking embroidery.
