Taapsee Pannu is making waves and how. Riding high on the success of her latest movie Haseen Dillruba, the Bollywood actress also made fashionistas take note of her style snaps from her Russian vacation. And that's only the half of it. Adding to her fashion repertoire is the fact that Taapsee has been announced as the face of Vogue Eyewear in India. With zany sensibilities and a perpetual willingness to experiment, we couldn't think of anyone better. So NDTV Swirlster had a chat with Taapsee Pannu on her fashion choices and how spectacles can be a statement-making fashion accessory.
NDTV Swirlster: Glasses have always been thought of for utility so do you believe they can lend style to a look too?
Taapsee Pannu: Of course they can. Eyewear definitely adds an edge to the entire style statement because it's on your face and that's the first thing someone will notice. It is an introduction for defining someone's own individual style.
NDTV Swirlster: Which is your favourite look from your red carpet outfits?
Taapsee Pannu: I have quite a few favourite red carpet looks, but if I had to choose it would be the black outfits I wore at the Radio Mirchi Awards and IFFA Awards.
NDTV Swirlster: Why is being the face of Vogue Eyewear the right fit for you?
Taapsee Pannu: I am delighted to be partnering with Vogue Eyewear and become their India face of the Lets Vogue campaign. My personal style preferences completely resonate with the playful, chic and fashionable essence of the brand, and I believe that is a very seamless connect that we have. For all those who know me well, are aware that when it comes to fashion, I always prefer a style that is original and relatable. That very naturally makes me a Vogue Eyewear Woman.
NDTV Swirlster: Which of your movie character's style did you most relate to?
Taapsee Pannu: My style changes with every movie, as whenever I do a movie I spend over a month before I begin my shoot with that character and that style. For me, my character's style and the personality of the role that I am getting into affects my personal wardrobe and style statements.
NDTV Swirlster: What is your personal style like?
Taapsee Pannu: My personal style keeps changing depending on the weather, my mood or even the city I am in. I mostly love wearing cotton fabrics as they are easy, breezy and flowy and also at the same time love layering with comfortable shorts and basic tank tops. I also love wearing sarees and styling glasses with it again depending on the place I am in or the occasion.
NDTV Swirlster: Which are your favourite pieces from the collection?
Taapsee Pannu: Some of my favourite styles from Vogue Eyewear include slim metallic styles like Lafayette. And even the high-impact round shapes like London is another personal favorite, which has a boho-chic look and effortlessly cool.
NDTV Swirlster: Do you believe that being styled and looking fashionable is important for an actor today and why?
Taapsee Pannu: It is important for everyone, and not only actors, to develop their own sense of style and not follow or ape anyone, as it's always nice to have your own personality reflected in your style. So whether you are an actor or not, I think it's really nice to know what you feel the best in and what reflects your personality in the best way.
NDTV Swirlster: If you had to steal a celebrity's style, who would you pick and why?
Taapsee Pannu: I like Kate Middleton's style a lot , it's very classy and chic while also keeping it fresh.
NDTV Swirlster: What is Taapsee's tip on how to style spectacles with an outfit?
Taapsee Pannu: I go with the vibe of the outfit more than trying to match the colour or anything, it's more like "what is the vibe of my outfit for the day and what glasses should I pick that would go best with it?"
NDTV Swirlster: What are your go-to fashion choices?
Taapsee Pannu: I have definitely developed a fondness for cotton outfits, basic flowly skirts, contrast tops with shorts, sarees. Layering of an outfit also attracts me especially with sarees, and I like styling them with the right eyewear all the time.
