The last few weeks have been hectic for Deepika Padukone, fashion wise. From attending the Time 100 Gala in New York to the Met Gala (mother of all high fashion events) also in New York - Deepika Padukone was invited for them all and she attended them all. But alas, Deepika's fashion choices were not just disparaged, but they also became the bane of some people's existence. Fans cried out to Shaleena Nathani, Deepika's stylist, to either switch up Deepika's style game or let Deepika get a new stylist.
Well, ladies and gentlemen, not anymore. The moment we've all been waiting for has arrived. Deepika Padukone has finally proven to the world that high and avant garde fashion can be her cup of tea too. Deepika's second day at Cannes seems to have been the day her team of stylists chose to break her out of her fashion shell, and how.
Deepika started her second day at Cannes in a pair of jeans and a white tee - which, by the way, we loved. But that didn't nearly have the impact that her second outfit - a pantone coloured suit - had on fans everywhere. Deepika stepped onto the streets of Cannes in a bright purple Mao suit. Side swept retro hair and a reverse cat eye, and Deepika pretty much had us.
That pantone suit did set the tone for the day, and to be honest, we would have let her next outfit slide even if wasn't the best sartorial choice - but hello, Deepika Padukone. She did not let us down, not one bit. After that bright and bold suit, Deepika stepped out in a gold Alberta Ferretti dress. Way to rock that plunging neckline, girl. Her hair, makeup and everything in between was done to perfection too.
Now, it was turn for Deepika Padukone's red carpet appearance. Hearts were beating fast, fingers were crossed and there seemed to be a general prayer going around - let her not be boring. Pfft, boring, what's that? Deepika Padukone was anything but boring in her ruffled, fuchsia pink Ashi Studio gown. To be honest, we can't stop thinking about how great she would have looked had she worn something like this (in red) to the Met Gala. Oh, well, no point crying over spilled milk, we suppose. Let's just appreciate Deepika's will to take a risk this time round.
After nearly shutting the red carpet down in this big bright gown, Deepika made her way to the Chopard party. She chose to wear a black gown from Marcell Von Berlin. Plunging necklines and exaggerated sleeves seem to be Deepika's thing - and we've got to say we love it.

Deepika Padukone has redeemed herself. Yes, we repeat, Deepika Padukone has redeemed herself. Let's hope she keeps up the streak and does not go back to her plastered down ponytail days. Fingers crossed.
