The cloud that Deepika Padukone's latest film Padmavati is under seems to have cast no shadow on the red carpet, at least. The 31-year-old actress showed up at the Filmfare Glamour and Style Awards on Friday night in a sleek red Gauri and Nainika ballgown with a giant bow at the back. Red is always a tricky choice for red carpets for obvious reasons (same-to-same colour, y'all) but there is nothing that The Dimpled One cannot do when it comes to pulling rabbits out a fashion hat. She nailed this look.
Here's how the red carpet was won:

Which is not to say Deepika didn't have plenty of stylish competition at the awards. Kareena Kapoor looked like a glam Gothic bride in a white lace by Galia Lahav:
Sonam Kapoor glittered in a gold Atelier Zuhra dress with a headband:
Katrina Kaif was sleek in Jean Paul Gaultier:
Sridevi was spotted in a feathered and sequinned ballgown by Ziad Nakad:
Alia Bhatt wore a dainty Needle And Thread dress:
Diana Penty was striking in a black Alpana Neeraj column:
Esha Gupta rocked a Nikhil Thampi dress recreated from a famous design by Azzedine Alaia who died recently:
Very impressive, all, as only expected at an event honouring both style and glamour. The men at the award show - Hrithik Roshan, Shahid Kapoor and Sonam's brother Harshvardhan Kapoor among them - also made a good showing but it's hard to look away from the ultra-glam dresses on display.
