2020 has been a very eventful year, to say the least. While the way we functioned, worked and lived changed dramatically within the past 12 months, so did the fashion sphere. Things were going on as usual for the fashion industry with celebrity looks being shot at the airport and fashion weeks being conducted at swanky hotels. In a matter of months, that changed completely. From the way clothes were displayed to the manner in which we shopped, it all transformed quickly. But that wasn't all. 2020 also impacted global fashion trends to a great extent. While style wasn't even something we thought about at the start of the year, by the latter part of it, celebrity fashion and top trends were back in almost full swing. And boy, we were glad. Some trends shone brightly through 2020 while others missed the mark.
Fashion Trends Hits And Misses In 2020
We're revisiting the hits and misses of 2020 to see which fashion trends made it big and which others missed the mark.
Fashion Hits Of 2020
1. Loungewear Sets
With most of the months being spent inside the house, it was only natural that indoor clothing trumped outdoor wear by a whole lot. When it wasn't spent in pajamas, lounge wear sets ruled the roost. Whether in furry form, covered with prints or lined with fleece, no one could bear to get out of them all through the day.
2. Monochrome Magic
Ever thought wearing a single shade was dull? Not in 2020, at least. Monochrome looks saw a resurgence during the year and whether it was a pantsuit and turtleneck, saree and jacket or skirt and boots, celebrities flocked to wear multiple pieces of their ensemble in single shades.

3. Mask Chains
With face masks becoming a mandatory fashion accessory, mask chains gave them a stylish edge. While they added purpose by holding your mask around your neck and keeping your hands free, you can't deny that they looked super chic with every outfit.
4. Co-ordinated Sets
Co-ordinated sets or co-ord sets could be thought of as lounge wear for the outdoors. With matching prints taking over the top and bottom, it's practically a no-brainer when picking an outfit. A celebrity favourite in forms like skirt suits and kurta sets, we're sure to be seeing much more of it.
5. Retro Throwback
2020 went to the comfy place that 90s sartorial style was born from. Vintage fashion and retro accessories had a great impact on celebrity style; whether it was with the way clothes were layered or how bags were styled.

6. Bike Shorts
Bike shorts were an athleisure favourite in 2020, especially amongst celebrities. Although Princess Diana pulled it off flawlessly with her sweatshirts, we can't say the same about the modern reinvention of the trend as it came across as over-styled and didn't suit every shape and size.
7. Micro Bags
Though micro bags have been around for a while, they continued to make their presence felt on red carpets in the early part of the year. There's no denying their cute size and designer finish look great but in reality, are completely impractical with everyday looks.
8. Dad Sneakers
Dad sneakers continued to be a footwear staple in 2020 and frankly, it's time to put them to rest. While they certainly add a sporty vibe to certain athleisure looks, they definitely can't be paired with everything and appear more cringe than chic.
