A luxe and stellar night it is going to be at the FDCI X Lakme Fashion Week as models will be seen walking the ramp for a space-age themed collection. The concluding night will take us on an intergalactic journey of fashion as designer duo Falguni Shane Peacock unveil their collection, "Earthbound", which focuses on homecoming to the planet after five decades of inhabiting other planets. Not just the collection but the whole sentiment of getting back to the physical format is very overwhelming for the designers.
"The runway has always been a designer's creative playground. This is something we really missed in the past two years during the lockdown. Coming back to the runway is a celebration of fashion, the excitement and feel for a designer. This collection is also a celebration of passion on earth," says designer Falguni.
The duo this year is penning a new fashion chapter as they are set to unveil their collection "Earthbound" at the Lakmé Absolute Grand Finale.
Inspired by a galactic theme, the designers have put together their creative ideation through a characteristic profusion of opulent pieces with appealing and bold hues. "Moreover, the contemporary hues of the Lakmé Absolute Explore Eye range work beautifully with the colours of our collection- it's a riot of spatial greys and bold purples, pinks and blues," says designer Falguni.
The designers have been eclipsing the glamour since their foray into the industry. Reconciling fantasy with practicality and modernity is what their designs have been all about. "We have always been intrigued by space and somewhere down the line, we found ourselves adding galactic elements to our work. After fifty years of inhabiting other planets, it is likely to have developed a sort of uniform from living in a colony. But when you head back to earth, you will be celebrating colors and textures in all their glory," elaborates Shane Peacock.
The current fashion movement is about unapologetic style statements. "With literally 'no trend' being the biggest trend, we are getting a chance to get our creative juices flowing and experiment with our collections," chimes designer Shane.
He further explains, "As we have come out of a very dark period of life that has affected a lot of people not only mentally, physically but emotionally as well. I think we will get to see collections with a splash of colours. We want to celebrate life again in its truest form in colour and I think that is going to stay for some time." With "Earthbound", the designers are bringing their imagination to life with the concept of homecoming to the planet.
Diving deep into the post-pandemic creative process has been no easy task for any designer but at the same time the fashion today screams unapologetic style, maximalist drama and reconceptualised dressing. And just like that the pandemic did prove to be a time for designers Falguni Shane Peacock to get experimental with their creativity.

"Bold shoulders, futuristic detailing, and bright colours have always been our brand's signature styles, and revisiting it with a collection called "Earthbound" is a futuristic take and a comeback too in a way," says Falguni. A futuristic approach to fashion- Yes! That's what we expect from the collection. "Somewhere down the line we always leave our collection ending and then pick it up from where we left. You can say it has always been a part of our DNA to add a little futuristic element to our collection. As a person and designer for the brand, we have always been intrigued by space, planets, galaxies, and stranger things," she adds.
