The 96th Academy Awards were bittersweet for Emma Stone. The acclaimed Hollywood actress bagged her second Oscar as the Best Actress for her dramatic performance in Poor Things. However it's fair to say that the moment was overshadowed by her turn on the stage. When Emma walked up to collect her award from the likes of Michelle Yeoh and Jennifer Lawrence, she mouthed, "My dress is broken". When accepting the award, she mentioned the wardrobe malfunction, saying, "My dress is broken - I think it happened during I'm Just Ken". Ever since then, social media has been abuzz with the fallout from the incident.

Commentators have been vocal about the quality of Emma's dress, especially given it was a couture creation designed by Louis Vuitton. They shared some of their thoughts on Louis Vuitton's black and white shot of her outfit on Instagram.
One compared it to a high street brand, whose garments cost far, far less.
Another spoke about the failure of craftsmanship on such a prestigious stage where fashion comes under the scanner.
Then there was the one that raised their hands up in prayer for the shoulders of whom the incident would fall on at Louis Vuitton.
One even had a hilarious option for a caption to go with the post by the design label.
Those were just a handful of the comments on the incident, which is now being termed "Zippergate" at the 2024 Oscars.
While no comment has been made by the Louis Vuitton team thus far, Emma went on to speak to press, divulging, "They sewed me back in. Right when I came back, they sewed me back in, which was wonderful. I genuinely do think I busted it during I'm Just Ken. I was so amazed by Ryan and what he was doing, and that number just blew my mind. And I was right there, and I just was going for it, and, you know, things happen", which was reported by Los Angeles Times.
Later that night, Emma changed into a silver embellished asymmetrical hemline dress for an Oscars after party.
