When was the last time you dug into your closet and picked out your heirloom jewellery to pair with your outfit? Not in the recent past we imagine, except if it was for a festival or a wedding. While Indians love their gold and treasure jewellery passed down through generations, the precious possessions spend most of their lifetime on the inside of a closet rather than around a neck. That's because of the apprehension that exists to wear typical heirloom style jewellery; elaborate, heavy and made of yellow gold, with more than just sarees and lehengas. The day finally arrived when that seems to be changing.
At the recent Lakme Fashion Week X FDCI, Taapsee Pannu walked as the showstopper for designer Monisha Jaising who collaborated with Reliance Jewels for jewellery on the runway. It was a styling job done to perfection as Taapsee's look combined traditional yellow gold and modern flair with panache. She wore a red sleeveless gown which had a deep V-neckline and paired it with a chunky neckpiece which featured intricate patterns. With muted makeup and her full head of curls, it truly was a marvelous fashion moment to see both worlds collide.
Taapsee's jewellery choices can shapeshift pretty easily as well. There was the time she layered a studded choker necklace with a chain and pendant. Along with it, dainty geometric earrings did the trick.
When on the red carpet, Taapsee went even more minimal with only a pair of stone studded earrings in a decorative floral pattern with her hair pulled back in a bun hairstyle that made her jewellery visible.
