With the spring summer edition of Lakme Fashion Week only a few days away, anticipation is building. Besides the celebrity showstoppers and gorgeous garments, this edition of Mumbai's most fashionable week promises to be bigger and better in more ways than one. Here are five things that we can barely wait to see at Lakme Fashion Week Summer Resort 2018.
1. Promoting Body Positivity
In continuation of their role in promoting inclusivity and changing the perception of models being waif thin, this season will see a collection by 'Half Full Curve'. The fashion label promises a show whose main message is body positivity and fashion that comes in every size. Going by the reception received previously from the plus sized showcase and its wonderful message, we're pretty chuffed about this one.
2. New Nudes
Ever struggled with getting your shade of nude lipstick without looking like you've applied concealer on your lips? Us too. Fortunately, Lakme's new range reinventing nudes is set to change that. Says Sandhya Shekar, Lakme Makeup Expert, "Nude shades never really go out of style. Finding the right shade can be difficult, especially for Indian skin tones as they can look pale and washed out. But the new Lakme range will showcase a wide range of nude shades from beige and ivory to chocolate and caramel."
3. A Day For Sustainability
With fashion becoming more conscious and ethically aware, Lakme Fashion Week dedicates a day to sustainability with an initiative for rural women as well as the North East India's contribution towards the movement. The day will also see five North Eastern designers showcase their work around the conversation of environmentally-conscious fashion.
4. New Fabric At Anita Dongre's Show
Anita Dongre will headline the first day of this edition and it isn't just a drop-dead gorgeous set of garments that we're looking forward to. This season, a new fabric called R | Elan from Reliance Industries will be unveiled at her show. As R | Elan's specially engineered fibres promise richer colours and more fluidity, we're expecting a swishy set of delightful looks from Dongre.
5. Anamika Khanna's Grand Finale
In keeping with the theme of reinventing nudes, we're expecting Anamika Khanna's collection to be stunning end to the week-long fashion extravaganza. Says Anamika Khanna, "My collection is inspired by those who wear their attitude on their sleeves and it will be powerful and individualistic while being completely timeless."
