The annual Met Gala is awaited by the trio of the art, culture and fashion world. Held at New York's Metropolitan Museum Of Art, the function heralds the opening of its annual fashion exhibit. Fashion lovers from all over the world wait with bated breath for photos to start trickling in, mainly for the legendary thematic dress code that is followed each time around. In 2019, that was Camp: Notes On Fashion, which was highlighted by theatrical and exaggerated celebrity style at the event.
Alongside attendees like Katy Perry and Lady Gaga, our very own Deepika Padukone arrived in full form and gave the brief her own playful twist. Reams of candy floss toned fabric formed the base of her Zac Posen designer gown. The custom pink lurex Jacquard gown had a sculpted tiered bottom with a flowing train. It was embellished with glittering 3D accents, adding a futuristic touch with a curved neckline and fitted bodice.
If you thought her gown was fairly tame, her beauty look pushed the envelope. The exaggerated winged eye shadow merged tones of violet and fuchsia as it formed a sharp point on the outer end of the eye. Defined brows framed Deepika's face, as did contoured cheeks. The finishing touch to her makeup came in the form of a dark burgundy lip.
Dangling earrings and a caged cuff was her jewellery of choice. A voluminous high ponytail added to the playful flair of the look. Deepika completed it with an embellished hairband.
The Met Gala 2020 may be currently postponed but at least we can relive our favourite throwbacks.Comments
