There was dancing, a 'prince,' and a Hollywood princess. Among the 20 young debutantes at Le Bal in Paris over the weekend was Ava, daughter of Hollywood actors Reese Witherspoon and Ryan Phillippe. Her escort or 'cavalier' for the evening was Maharaja Padmanabh Singh of Jaipur's former royal family. Pictures of Ava being twirled around the dance floor by her cavalier have since gone viral. In her gold Giambattista Valli ballgown, Ava floated around on the arm of a real life Prince Charming. Bal des Debutantes, or Le Bal as it is called, is an annual fashion event at which 20-odd young women from prominent families around the world make their high society debuts. This year, the roster of debutantes also included Padmanabh Singh's sister Gauravi Kumari, whose cavalier was the prince of Luxembourg, and actor Chunky Panday's daughter Ananya.

Le Bal, an event that has been held since the Nineties, raises funds for charity. It took place this year at the Peninsula Hotel in Paris.

The Jaipur royals and Ananya Panday join several other young Indians to have attended Le Bal, among them Nita and Mukesh Ambani's daughter Isha and Lalit Modi's niece Jayati. Navya Naveli Nanda, daughter of Shweta Bachchan and Nikhil Nanda, is believed to have cancelled her debut at Le Bal two years ago after the terror attacks in Paris.
