Priyanka Chopra is beautiful - and with that I just said one of the most redundant things ever. But we all know that behind those gorgeous looks, those public appearances, there is a team of stylists and beauticians who work hard to bring the best out of her. For celebrities, looking good is a full time occupation - as Priyanka points out to Bazaar, she's "literally photographed every day." And it's not always in a celeb's control, what with the paparazzi, the shutterbugs, the phone cameras everywhere, you never know where you will get photographed and make it to the headlines the next day. And for a celebrity like Priyanka Chopra, who treads the land of Hollywood AND Bollywood, looking her best is even more essential.
So it made sense for people to want to know her fashion and style secrets. And Bazaar USA made it happen for us fans, getting Priyanka to open up her 'Little Black Book of Wellness' and giving us an insight into the people who make her look so good: her stylists.
I have been in the beauty business for a while," Priyanka starts off. "In this series, I'll be opening up my Little Black Book to share with you all the people and practices that help me live a beautiful life." Whoa! Are we excited or are we excited?
"Fashion is a huge part of my life, and also a part of my job. I change five times a day - from red carpet looks to street style to TV appearances," the actress tells Bazaar. "I have a team of stylists around the world that work with me."
Remember when we talked about Mimi Cuttrell being the woman who changed Priyanka's fashion game? Well, that is where the episode begins; Priyanka dives into the "creative process" of working with Mimi as she styles the actress for a press meet.
"She gets my vibe, she gets the fact that I want a point of view in every outfit," Priyanka says in the episode. This look right here, which many of us swooned at, was styled by Mimi.
So was this sensational cutout blazer.
And it is not just the styling deets we find out.
"Do you think I have a (fashion) pattern?," Priyanka asks Mimi. So, there is a lot of getting to know the actress involved too. For one, did you know that Priyanka loves her dresses but doesn't like to lean into what a dress says? Hmm.
"My teens were a little bit more...tight pants, ponytails, hoops, puffy jackets. I was that girl in the 90s. And then came the 2000s, I became an actress and I started wearing everything. And then I realised I looked like a Christmas tree," Priyanka Chopra reminisces.
"I think I have finally found my feet in the 30s, as a woman and as a fashionista," she concludes her thought.
Oh, and her current favourites? Small sunglasses and monochromes.
"I am really loving a monochrome moment. I love sets, matching them and being a little bit more turned out and using funky accessories to break the monochrome up," she tells Bazaar.
And speaking of fashion and Priyanka Chopra, how can we not talk about her recent tryst with the Met Gala? The first time she attended the Gala, she was lauded (and made a meme of) for her exaggerated trench coat. This time, Priyanka was a mother-of-God sight to see in her Virgin Mary look. The person behind it? Cristina Ehrlich.
"When you have a canvas like Priyanka, the sky is the limit. Our biggest goal is to outdo ourself from the time before," says Cristina.
In fact, the episode actually takes us back to the moment when Priyanka dressed up for the MET gala this year.
"She has such a sense of classical beauty, she has such a sense of what makes a moment and I love that about her," says Priyanka. Well, doesn't take rocket science to figure that one out. Cristina has given Priyanka some epic looks. Now if only a few other celebrities would hire the right stylists for themselves too.
"Over understanding myself through my career, I think I have realised that I have to really be true to me and what I want to say, whatever the trends might be, what am I feeling in that moment," Priyanka tells Bazaar.
"Fashion is such a personal thing to each one of us. I mean we can get inspired by people that we see all around but it has to be personal to you. And that is when my love affair with fashion."
That's some serious fashion advice right there. Take notes, people. Meanwhile, we can't wait for the next episode.
