For Indian brides-to-be, one of the most sought after designers for bridal trousseau is undoubtedly Sabyasachi Mukherjee. The ace fashion designer is known for his stunning creations that not only epitomises luxury and elegance, but also showcases various traditional crafts of India, even those that are almost forgotten, to revive their beauty and bring them to the spotlight. Keeping with this, Sabyasachi Mukherjee introduced his latest couture collection called The Curiosity, Art and Antiquity Project, of which the Pashmina lehengas have been getting quite the attention.
In one of his Instagram posts, Sabyasachi revealed that the exclusive line will include luxury "clothing, jewellery and accessories, of utmost rarity. These products will often make use of endangered textiles, heritage crafts and antique techniques that are slowly becoming obsolete."

Who hasn't heard about the beauty of Kashmiri pashmina shawls? Luxurious and incredibly soft to touch, the hand-woven shawls often are styled with exquisite hand embroidery. Sabyasachi's pashmina lehengas are made out of antique shawls from the designer's textile archives, and have been "deconstructed and reconstructed to create one of a kind bridal lehengas for textile connoisseurs."
The pashmina lehengas feature the designer's signature zardosi borders in multiple layers, and are teamed with interesting blouses in brocade, patchwork zardosi or kantha. The dupattas are statement making too, which the designer claims to be of museum quality, such as the chikankari dupatta and the Benarasi dupatta. Even the odhnas feature exquisite work in Benarasi organza and badla.
The Curiosity, Art and Antiquity Project includes many other show stopping bridal wear in a melange of textiles, embroidery, prints and dyes. An example of a unique, cross-cultural bridal ensemble is this kurta with textured brocades, kantha, stitched and detailed kalamkari and a multitude of vintage borders. Teamed with a complex patchwork shawl, a Benarasi odhna and a block-printed, embroidered velvet ijaar, bridal wear has never looked this regal.
