It has been the summer of the suit. From chic movie promotions to glitzy award functions, stars from Hollywood and Bollywood have chosen the garment as their go-to this season. The pantsuit has been around for the past few months but only recently has it made its presence felt, especially in Bollywood. Kareena Kapoor wore her navy blue suit with a bandeau top and flaunted her abs. Diana Penty gave us the summer version with a relaxed fit and pastel tone. Deepika Padukone even went ahead and took her ultraviolet number to Cannes. Basically, it's a celebrity favourite and judging by the number of pantsuits worn this summer, you'd think we would have seen it all. We thought so too.
But that didn't seem to be the case when Oscar award winning actress Emma Stone suited up. To showcase the latest Cruise 2019 collection, designer Louis Vuitton took to the French Riviera with a starry bunch that counted Lea Seydoux, Sienna Miller, Emma Stone and Justin Theroux among them. Emma, who is known to sometimes make a striking style statement, showed up in a pantsuit but it was nothing like you've ever seen before.
Over a printed grey top, Emma wore a white tuxedo blazer with black and houndstooth printed lapels. With it were glittering black trousers and a metallic belt worn with black loafers and a tiny purse, from the designer's collection of course. A smokey eye, peach lip and natural waves in her red hair finished off the look.
Just a look through is enough to tell you that there's a lot going on - a print mixed tuxedo jacket, shimmer heavy trousers and generally androgynous aesthetic. Together that's exactly what differentiates it from every other pantsuit we've seen this summer and we've seen a lot. There's a fine balance between finishes which adds depth to the suit and there's also the unmissable detail of the matching purse. Plus, the chic yet unassuming makeup look is the right kind of finishing touch.
If there was ever a pantsuit that was worthy of being worn on the red carpet and could stand out from a crowd of suits, it has got to be this one which was worked to perfection by Emma Stone.
