1.Nainital
Tal means lake and Nani means nine. This hill station in Uttarakhand offers the tourists gorgeous views of the mountains and the lakes alike. Work from a café facing the lake, take a stroll on the mall road, give the local cuisine a try and try the ropeway that shows you a view of all these nine lakes together! You can also pay a visit to the Nainital zoo which has different species of birds and animals.
2.Mussoorie
Another hill station located in the state of Uttarakhand, Mussoorie matches up to its title 'The Queen of the Hills'. You can ride on a scooter, cycle your way up or (for those interested) or simply take the local way and walk the hilly roads! With tall pine trees covering one side of the mountains, the roads here remind you of Ruskin Bond books. Sip on the soothing ginger tea and bask in the sun in cute cafes that overlook the mighty Himalayas. Try Mussoorie's local delicacies and shop your heart out in the local markets! 3. Lansdowne
Located in the state of Uttarakhand, this town is perhaps the closest hill station to Delhi. The roads here are well managed and motorable keeping the town well connected. This is an underrated gem of the country and the quietest possible place for any kind of vacation. Be amidst nature in all its glory here. This place has the most beautiful view of the Himalayas with blue pine forests all around. The best time to visit Lansdowne in summer would be from March to June with temperatures ranging from 15 degrees celsius to 30 degrees celsius. Make sure you skip the core summertime to avoid the hot and humid climate. Another hill station that is close to Lansdowne is Dehradun (only 54 km away).
4. Kasauli
This small town in Himachal Pradesh has been renowned since colonial times. With British architecture that still can be seen here, Kasauli has been the base for many films and shoots. Here you will find the greenest of landscapes and great views of the snow capped mountain range making it a hiker's dream come true. There are many tourist points spread across the place that will help you grab the perfect sunset picture for your socials! With numerous cafes, bookstores, shopping areas, and mall roads, this is a perfect place for staycation-ing with your gang!
5. McLeod Ganj
This is a suburb of Dharamshala located in the state of Himachal Pradesh. Being a hilly area, this town is popular among hikers. Rich in culture, McLeod Ganj is home to a large Tibetan population. It is also renowned as it is the home of the 14th Dalai Lama. The months from March to June are the best time to visit this beautiful destination.
