Neeraj Chopra won India's singular silver Olympic medal at the Paris Olympics 2024 for his spectacular javelin throw. While in Europe, Neeraj paid a visit to Switzerland, which he calls his "favourite place to vacation outside of India". The mountainous country situated in Central Europe is renowned for being one of the most naturally beautiful destinations in the world. Jungfraujoch in Switzerland is a destination like absolutely no other. On one side, it has a view of the Swiss Plateau as far as France and on the other, the Aletsch Glacier. It features a notable railway station, heritage site, renowned chocolate shop and more, all surrounded by pristine snow at all times of the year. 1. Jungfraujoch Raiway Station
Located over 3,000 meters above sea level, it features the highest railway station in Europe. Owing to its incredible height, it is titled the Top of Europe. Since 1912, Jungfrau Railway has travelled through the Eiger and Mönch mountains to Europe's highest railway station. The stop also features a multimedia experience of over 100 years of its history and a rest stop for visitors to take photos in the snow.
2. Eiger Express Tricable Car
The Eiger Express tricable car will take visitors from Grindelwald to the Eiger Glacier station in a matter of 15 minutes. Not only is the ride one of the most scenic journeys one will ever take, it carries them to Jungfraujoch and on the slopes 47 minutes faster than what it was previously. The Eiger Walk and Eiger Trail also allows visitors to soak in the scenery on foot.
3. The Highest Lindt Shop In The World
This chocolate shop sits amidst the clouds. It is the highest Lindt shop in the world, where one can taste flavours, buy treats and end their trip on a sweet note.
4. Snow Fun Park
At the Snow Fun Park, snow lovers can refresh themselves and give winter sports a try. These include the zipline, sledding, tubing, skiing and snowboarding.
5. UNESCO World Heritage Site
From the Sphinx Observation Deck, one can view the UNESCO World Heritage Site of the longest glacier in the Alps. It is the first natural heritage site of the Alpine region, which offers a view towards Italy, France and Germany.
At Jungfraujoch, travellers can also see both the commemorative plaque unveiled by Neeraj Chopra as well as the iconic javelin donated by him. While receiving this honour, he expressed that he felt on top of the world, as he stood at the Top of Europe.
