Cleaning is not a joyous task for most. Living in grime and filth is even less joyous and pleasant. Safe to say, most of us pick cleaning. No matter how much of a hassle it might seem like, cleaning the space you live in is essential for your overall well being. But are you making the mistake of cleaning just what is clearly visible to the eye? So you make your bed, tidy your coffee table, but is your house really clean? Dirt can build up in the most unexpected places. So the next time you decide to do some cleaning, be thorough and make sure not to leave out these commonly missed spots.
1. Your Decorative Cushions
You might be changing your bed sheet and pillow covers regularly, but what about those throw cushions that are lying on your couch? Or even on your bed. Do you think of changing or cleaning those as often? If not, you might want to start now. Whether you use those cushions to prop your legs up while watching TV or to rest your head while laying on your couch - they gather the same amount of dead skin and dust mites as your regular bedding, if not more. Make sure to remove these cushion covers, and wash or send them for dry cleaning regularly.
Your curtains might look clean to the naked eye, but fabric just hanging by your window or door has a tendency to trap everything from pollen to dust to bacteria. Try and vacuum them regularly. Do make sure to check the label to see if it is a 'dry clean' only fabric.
3. Bathroom Accessories
From your toothbrush holder to your soap dish to even your face towels - you will be surprised at how fast bacteria spreads around the bathroom. The next time your bathroom is being cleaned, make sure to give all your bathroom accessories a good antiseptic rubdown. While you're at it, also clean out that cupboard or drawer in your bathroom you haven't emptied out in ages.
