3 Things That'll Stop You From Skipping Your Workout

Much to everyone's dismay (including ours), a healthy body cannot be achieved without eating food that is nutritious and working out regularly

Focus on your goal and remember how important exercising is for your body

When it comes to losing weight or building a body that is healthier and stronger, consistency is key. As is with everything else in the world, practice makes perfect - same goes for fitness. Unless you spend a good amount of dedicated time to your overall health and fitness every week, you can bid that summer body you've been vying for, goodbye. Much to everyone's dismay (including ours), a healthy body and good physique cannot be achieved without eating food that is more nutritious and less fatty, and, working out regularly. It's easy to lose motivation to hit the place of your exercise, especially in the hot summer months - but focus on your goal and remember how important exercising is for your body. Here are a few things you can do that'll keep you more motivated and hopefully stop you from skipping your workout.

1. Pick up some weights

Having a routine that includes consistent weight training allows you to sculpt and shape your entire body, boost your metabolism, decrease joint pain and risk for injuries and also helps you feel stronger overall. You know what that means? You are likely to feel more energetic. More energy means less sluggishness taking over your body when the time to hit the gym arrives. Weight/strength training can work like magic. Try and include it in your routine at least 2-3 times a week.

2. Shock your body

Every once in a while, your body needs a shock. If you continuously do the same workout, you will hit a plateau and fail to see any changes in your body. When you stop seeing results, you will hit not only a physical plateau, but also a mental one. Besides, if you're constantly engaging in the same workout routine, you're bound to get bored. Boredom will, no doubt, lead to a lack of motivation. Avoid such a situation by switching up your workout routine every few weeks. You could start by trying an HIIT workout like Tabata that targets your entire body.

3. Get off your phone

Get off your phone, and definitely get off Instagram. Constantly looking at IG fitness models and comparing your current body to theirs can be highly demotivational. Sure, you want a role model to look up to and get inspired by, that's great. But don't beat yourself up about not reaching where they are sooner than your body allows. Every body is different and takes it own time reaching a certain weight or physique. Focus on how you feel rather than how you look. You're much more likely to stick on to your workout schedule and achieve your goals.
