The road to a fit body and healthy lifestyle is usually steep but always worth it. Even after following an exercise routine and diet, it can seem like your body insists on staying the same. It's frustrating, especially when you're putting your literal sweat into working out. This might be because you're making mistakes when it comes to your exercise, diet and lifestyle. These common mistakes hinder fitness progress and might be the reason you aren't making any.

1. Following Fads
There are plenty of fad diets available across the internet; from juice cleanses to celebrity ones. They have even helped many lose weight short term. The keyword here is short term. Fad diets can help in weight loss temporarily but over time, can cause many health problems. Instead of blindly following a trendy diet recommended by a celebrity, consult a nutritionist to find a meal plan that's tailormade for your body and try to eat clean and healthy.
2. Never Resting
Weekends exist to give your body and mind a break from routine. The same is true for exercise. Don't set yourself up for failure by working out every single day. It may lead to quick fatigue followed by ditching exercise completely. It may also lead to excessive wear and tear of muscles. Listen to your body as it needs at least a day to heal.
3. Going In Blindly
Any exercise is ill-advised without direction to it. Don't randomly wander into the gym and start lifting weights or exercise at home with routines that aren't suitable for you. This can seriously injure over time. Consult a fitness expert or thoroughly do your research on what you really should try.
4. Exercise Over Diet
Ever heard of the phrase 'abs are made in the kitchen?' It couldn't be anymore true. Abs, and any fitness progress overall depends greatly on what you eat. If you eat chocolate cake and chips with every meal, your gym sessions are redundant and you'll never see any difference in your body. Take into account what you eat as that's the most important factor in fitness progress, even more than exercise.
5. Hating It
Comments
While most workouts are grueling, you need the right mindset to even get them started. Hating your workout, the routine you follow or the place you do it is terribly demotivating and can make it difficult to even muster the energy to exercise. Remember that it's a healthy lifestyle choice in the long run, not a chore. Also change your routine up occasionally so that fatigue doesn't set in.
