Ask anyone who commits the sin of skipping breakfast why they do so and in all likelihood, their reason will be that there wasn't enough time. Granted, morning is the busiest time of the day with getting ready for work, packing meals and settling the house. But that still isn't enough of an excuse to skip breakfast. Not only will it leave you hungrier and more prone to eating junk in the day, it will affect your energy and metabolism to a great extent too. If you find your mornings incredibly hectic, take five and try these quick breakfast ideas. They're simple, healthy, filling and will stop you from making any more excuses.

1. Peanut Butter, Chocolate And Banana Smoothie

Smoothies are a saviour on rushed mornings and even though their method is simple, they are nutritious and will keep you full for the next few hours. To make it, add one ripe banana, two tablespoons of peanut butter, half a cup of milk, one teaspoon of cocoa powder and two tablespoons of honey to the bowl of your mixer. Blend well until all ingredients are in a liquid state then, pour in a glass and drink up.

2. Chili Avocado Toast With Eggs

Place two slices of bread in a toaster for a few minutes until it is golden brown. While it happens, cut open a ripe avocado and scoop out the flesh. Mash it in a bowl until it is a creamy pulp, then add a sprinkle of salt and pepper and blend well. Keep aside and on a medium fire, fry an egg sunny side up for two - three minutes in a pan. While it is frying, assemble your meal - first the toast, then spread the avocado mixture over it and finally, the sunny side up egg. Sprinkle chili flakes on top as per your liking. Nutritious and delicious, you'll be full until lunch with this meal.

3. Paneer Bhurji

This quick take on the Indian dish is filling and tasty, making it perfect to start your day with. In a pan, heat two tablespoons of oil. When it starts sizzling, add one finely chopped onion, tomato and green chili. Stir well and let them soften. Then add quarter tablespoon of garam masala powder and turmeric and stir well. Finally, add in half a cup of crumbled paneer and let it cook for not more than a minute or two. Stir well, season with salt and serve hot.

4. Strawberry And Banana Oatmeal

Give oatmeal a berry twist with this refreshing recipe. On a medium flame, stir together four tablespoons of oatmeal with half a cup of milk. While it is cooking, stir in two - three finely chopped strawberries and two tablespoons of honey to it. When cooked, take it off the gas and leave it to cool for five minutes. Garnish five - six sliced strawberries and one banana on top of the oatmeal and eat well.

5. Frittata With Greens

This hearty meal of eggs and greens are a quick take on the traditional Italian frittata but work amazingly well for not just breakfast, but even lunch or dinner. Heat two tablespoons of oil on a pan on a medium flame. While it heats, whisk together three eggs, half a cup of milk, half teaspoon of salt and half teaspoon of pepper in a bowl. Add quarter of a diced capsicum and half a cup of spinach into the pan and stir for a minute. Then add in the egg mixture. Once it fills the pan and cooks for a minute or two, roll it and serve hot.
