While most weekends tend to get packed with outings and catch-ups which makes the time slip through your fingers, we're all for a weekend that's more quiet, thoughtful and filled with self-care. To many, self-care may simply mean a pampering session but in actuality, it's a ritual that helps soothe your mind and body so that they may work harmoniously together with a renewed mental and physical energy. To make self-care your goal this weekend, try these 5 rituals for yourself.

1. Switch Off

Schedule a night by yourself without any social media. Very often, even in the midst of a movie, you're scroll through your notifications which isn't helping you at all. Change that by spending a night with your friends or by yourself sans your phone, laptop or tablet. Take in a theatre performance, visit a new restaurant or hit an adventure park, all while being completely mindful of the present without your phone.

2. Lunch For One

Eat lunch by yourself with no phones or no company. It can be in a restaurant, at a food court or even at home, as long as it isn't plagued by the distraction of conversation and taking the perfect food picture. Eating by yourself will allow you to fully immerse yourself in the experience and become more comfortable with solitude.

3. Walk It Out

There's literally nothing as soothing as a walk. Even if you aren't an exercise freak, you can't disagree with this. A walk outdoors, preferably in the quiet of nature, is a simple way to change your scene, refresh your mind and even burn a few calories. Head out for a half-an-hour walk to see for yourself.

4. Organise Your Life

When your home, closet and desk is filled with clutter, unconsciously so is your mind. Putting items in their place at home, donating clothes your won't use and discarding old papers and unwanted items can significantly lessen the amount of mess in your house so that you can reside in a tidy place and function positively in it too.

5. Write It Down

Keeping a diary make seem like something your teenage self would do but as an adult, it can be extremely beneficial for your mental health too. Penning down the events of the day and your feelings about it allows you to stop fixating, move past them and encourage more gratitude into your life.
