In the movies, pregnancy seems like nothing but a blimp on the radar. You look radiant and slightly larger for 9 months, give birth at the end and come out looking completely normal with a plus one a few weeks later. Celebrities walking ramps and flaunting flat stomachs few months after giving birth only further encourage the notion that pregnancy is a breeze. The reality however, is quite different. It can be the most life-changing experience in a women's life but it also messy and maddening, far from what expecting influencers and celebrities may show you.
The ever candid Chrissy Teigen took it on her to give a glimpse of what pregnancy and motherhood really is and it's far from anything you can put a filter on and upload. Model Chrissy gave birth to a baby boy named Miles Theodore Stephens last week, her second child with singer John Legend after 2 year old Luna Simone. In her snap just days after giving birth, Chrissy is presumably breastfeeding the blanket wrapped newborn wearing a low waist skirt over mesh underwear with a mesh wrapped pear in her hand.
The #asianpearunderwear in her caption is a shout-out to Ali Wong's new standup special Hard Knock Wife where the comedian makes a mention of the special post pregnancy mesh panties. For the unaware, mesh underwear are specially made for new moms as they gently cradle the body and hold in place padding which absorbs bodily fluids being discharged. And you thought pregnancy was all bodycon dresses and baby showers.
Teigen is famed for her realistic tweets and clapbacks so this new post comparing both her children's births rather graphically didn't fail to grab eyeballs.
I can confirm postpartum life is 90% better when you don't rip to your butthole. Baby boy: 1 point. Luna: 0

Ouch...but that's reality for you. Maybe if more celebrities speak up about the not-so-nice aspects of pregnancy and motherhood, it'll encourage awareness on critical issues like these. For now, we're glad Chrissy does.
