Motherhood is said to be one of life's most gratifying phases but it can also come with challenges aplenty. Hollywood actress Keke Palmer has never shied away from speaking her heart out, so when she experienced what she felt was discrimination, she sure wasn't in the mood to let it go. Known for her work in Hustlers, Keke took to Twitter to speak about the treatment she received as a new mother at Houston airport in Texas, America. On a recent trip, Keke tweeted that she encountered “breast milk discrimination.”
Breast milk discrimination at the Houston airport ruined my mood. I should've popped my tit out right then because the discretion and comfort of pumping is thwarted with threats to throw out over 16oz my babies food?!?!!! Why is that not a crime??— Keke Palmer (@KekePalmer) June 12, 2023
I'M A MOTHER for crying out…
In the tweet, Keke Palmer claimed that the officials at the airport threatened to “throw out” 16 ounces of stored breast milk. Keke's tweet said “Breast milk discrimination at the Houston airport ruined my mood." The Nope actress concluded her post by raising a question, “Why is that not a crime?? I'm a mother for crying out loud.”
According to TSA regulations, "Formula, breast milk, toddler drinks, and baby/toddler food (to include puree pouches) are considered medically necessary liquids" along with the fact that the "child or infant does not need to be present or travelling with you to bring breast milk, formula and/or related supplies."
Soon after sharing the post, Keke Palmer's tweet was met with sympathy from innumerable fans and several users shared that they also experienced similar incidents at the airport across the USA.
it's not like a faucet, you don't just turn it on & let it run. 16 oz of breast milk is A LOT, that's crazy.— resting rich face. (@highendtheori) June 14, 2023
Atlanta threw my 12 hour ice packs in the trash after taking all my milk packs out of the case. I was completely livid. I went off. The apologies didn't make it better either.😩ADVERTISEMENT— THE JOSEPHINE REVIEW PODCAST (@JosephineReview) June 15, 2023
Others even shared ways in which the process of travelling with breast milk was much smoother.
They recommend liquids be frozen if possible cause it's a quick swipe and go. If it's not then they usually want you to open, collect vapors from and they usually let you go. It sucks regardless but breast milk is considered a medical liquid.ADVERTISEMENT— Tay (@Chaunte_youstay) June 13, 2023
