The 21-day lockdown in India is making headlines across world. While adults can keep their minds and hands busy with work and hobbies, those raising childing have it tougher. Bollywood actresses like Alia Bhatt and Janhvi Kapoor proved that dabbling in hobbies like painting and reading can spend time constructively. But keeping little ones busy isn't as simple. That's why we're raising our hands for Shilpa Shetty. The celebrity, who recently welcomed daughter Samisha to the family via surrogacy, has always spent quality time with her son Viaan. With the quarantine keeping everyone bolted in their homes, it's a great idea to look back the mother-son bonding moments and how you can use it to keep your little one occupied under the lockdown.
Shilpa and Viaan set about baking a gluten-free chocolate cake in a heart mould. One of their many baking adventures, they used this one to "celebrate their time together and bake the quarantine blues away." Involving kids in simple baking projects like cupcakes and pastries will not only keep them busy but also spark a love for the activity as they grow up.
Earlier in the week, the unofficial mom of the year gave other parents some sound advice in her caption, saying "How do I keep my child occupied?!" is the million dollar question playing on every parent's mind right now. This 'unplanned' break has to be endured, since it can't be cured. We try planning a few hours of interesting activities in a day for our kids, but what do you do when you hear, "Mommy, I'm bored!" and you DON'T want to give them the iPad! Take it from me, tearing your hair out isn't going to help as much as you'd think it would. You have to put on your thinking caps, aiming to make the most of this time together." Shilpa and son got their hands dirty as they tie-dyed together. Every activity doesn't have to be in the kitchen as interesting hobbies like cross stitch, calligraphy and musical instruments are also recommended.
Those who know Shilpa well enough will know that one of her many loves is fitness, as proved by her fabulous figure. Previously, Viaan had a cheery time in the gym while his mom worked hard to tone her legs. Involve your kids in your yoga routine, stretches and home workout when they are little and you've got a budding athlete on your hands.
Photos from the Shetty-Kundra family vacation to Dubai last year included a feathery friend. Young children are curious and interested in the world around them as well as how it works. Encourage them to think harder, read more, watch closely and question everything.
