Summers are finally here; as much as we would like to deny the fact, the slowly rising heat outside is going to make sure we don't forget. This means a change in what we wear (yay for shorts and tees!), a change in our sleep patterns (ugh!), and also a change in what we eat.
The heat can be excruciating, it is essential that we keep our body replete with essential nutrients, minerals, and the right amount of chill. Dehydration can be a pain, and it sucks to feel like the sun is sapping you off of your energy. So how about we add these food items to our everyday diet and do our bit for our body this summer?
Cucumber
Its crunchy, its high on water content, and it so quite soothing a vegetable. You can eat it with curd, as a salad, and also as a drink (cucumber, mint, lemon). Do you know cucumber also fights anxiety?
Coconut Water
Coconut water is what coconut oil is to us in winters. This easily available drink is a source of minerals, keeps body hydrated, and also lowers blood pressure. Talk about a summer win win!
Mint
Let's take a moment to appreciate the amazing flavor of mint; the moment it touches our tongue it makes us feel refreshed. And again, so versatile. Make a drink of it, or a chutney, or a condiment for a paranthas. Hello vitamin c and iron!
Onions
Excuse the smell that wafts from the mouth after, but consuming onions is said to cool down your body and also helps fight a heat stroke.
Melons
Come summers and "What's for dessert?" gets the answer "Water melon and mangoes!". For good measure - water melon and muck melons are rich in vitamins and anti-oxidants, they keep your body hydrated and refreshed.
Tomatoes
Eating tomatoes can protect you from sunburn, what with the lycopene that gives the vegetable its red color. And tomatoes are generally a very healthy vegetable.
