About The Study
A recent study published in a journal of the American Medical Association says that taking 8000 steps a day can extend your lifetime. This study was conducted by The Natural Institute on Aging, The Natural Cancer Institute along with The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
To conduct the study these above-mentioned organisations planned to involve nearly 4500 US adults into it. These adults were all 40 years of age and older. They had to wear a device which tracked how many steps they took each day. It helped the health organisations compare the lifestyle of the people who take 400 steps on a daily basis. This study took 10 years to collect data and analyse the results.
The Findings Of The study
After the long research, it showed that taking 8000 steps on a daily basis can help you extend your lifetime. In the study, those who walked for 800 steps a day were 50 percent less likely to die of health conditions in the following decade. 12000 steps a day increased those odds upto 65 percent. Also, according to the study, 1165 died over the decade-long period. It added that gender, race and age were not a factor in the death rate.
So folks, to live a long healthy life, keep up your walking sprit.
