It may not seem so from the exterior, but there are a gang of Bollywood stars who champion the cause of eco-friendly practices and upcycling in their own different ways. On the occasion of World Environment Day 2020, we're taking lifestyle tips from these Bollywood actresses to go the cleaner and greener route.

1. Be An Eco-Warrier Like Dia Mirza

Along with being an actress and producer, Dia Mirza is also a headstrong environmental activist. She has been appointed the UN Environment Goodwill Ambassador for India and never shies away from taking a stand to speak about the protection of natural habitats and environmental conservation.

Deepika Padukone may be one of India's brightest stars who is acclaimed for her fashion statements but that hasn't stopped her from recycling her chic clothing. When she loves a garment, the fact that it will make fashion headlines the next day notwithstanding and doesn't stop her wearing it again and being captured by the shutterbugs.

3. Get Your Green Thumb On Like Richa Chadha

You don't need to drive out of the city to spot greenery. When Richa moved into a new home in Mumbai, she grew a miniature garden full of decorative and edible plants which can be used to cook with. Even in space starved cities, it's possible to take small steps to go green.

Biodegradable pads are the way forward

During your period, make an eco-friendly choice by cutting down on sanitary pad usage which contributes significantly to plastic waste. Like Kalki, switch to biodegradable pads or cloth pads which can be washed or menstrual cups which can be used for years.

5. Give Clothing New Life Like Evelyn Sharma

Through her organisation Seams For Dreams, Evelyn has promoted recycling clothing once you grow weary of it. Post collection, clothing is either donated for wearing, turned into scraps or auctioned at a fundraiser. All of these prevent it from being turned into waste in a landfill.
