The three condiments
Wasabi, soy sauce, and ginger. While wasabi is supposed to be put on top of the sushi (just a little bit), the soy sauce is something you need to dip the sushi in lightly. Dip it too much and the flavour of the sushi goes or worse, it falls apart. The ginger is a palate cleanser between sushi pieces, it is NOT supposed to go on the sushi.

You CAN use your hands
No, you don’t have to feel awkward if you don’t know how to use chopsticks. Maki especially is meant to be eaten with your hands. That is why you are handed a warm towel is given to you at the beginning of your meal. Also, eat your sushi in one bite. Even two bites are fine.
Fish first
You are supposed to dunk the fish portion of the sushi first into the soy sauce. You dip the rice and you risk the piece falling apart. Also, avoid mixing wasabi into the soy sauce.
