All through the week we are battling to find time for the gazillion things we have on our task list. In all of those things - meeting friends and family, managing a social life, assignments, meetings, work, chores - how many of us actually manage to take out time for ourselves? And by the time the weekend comes, we are so drained and tired that all we can manage is stay inside, all cooped up, binge watching something online. That is a good way to relax, I'll admit, but what about other soul-feeding things we should be doing for ourselves?
Ever so often, we get so tied up with what everyone is demanding of us that we forget to do things for ourselves. We forget to take out time to spend in our own company. Let's try doing that this weekend.
Create something
Be it a sketch, a painting, a choreographed dance piece, an outfit, some DIY home decor, whatever sails your boat. Do it. Let those creative juices flow to some good background music and you will feel so relaxed by the end of it.
Cook for yourself
And cook it all by yourself. Cooking is therapeutic; it basically channels yours skills in the kitchen and your culinary expertise. Also its the a life skill that you should be polishing. But the pleasure of cooking a meal from scratch and then relishing it is incomparable.
Explore your city
Is there a monument, a museum, a market in your city that you have always wanted to go to and never did because you just couldn't get around to it? Make a resolution to finally go there this weekend, all by yourself and give yourself the time off you need.
