Over 30 years of a reputation creating dreamy looks on-screen as well as off-screen, ace couturier Manish Malhotra has always had a well-rounded creative aspect for creating characters. The designer has incredibly created timeless and iconic looks for Sridevi, Karisma Kapoor and more and has always been interested in the entire look. After building an eponymous couture label to fame, designer and entrepreneur Manish Malhotra forayed into the beauty sector. "Over the years it has been a privilege contributing to making individuals feel special on screen and off screen. However, fashion is not just limited to apparel and accessories, but also makeup and beauty," tells us Manish Malhotra.
His concept of "knowing the entire look" while styling a character has always been of prime importance as beauty looks are the key for building a character. "I have always believed that makeup is a huge aspect of the complete look - it lends authenticity to the vision and amplifies it. I really feel like makeup, hair and jewellery can make or break an outfit. I constantly want to add a lot more dimension within the genre of what I do, and makeup and beauty naturally fits into this journey," he further adds.
On Beauty Being Gender Neutral
The beauty and fashion industry has seen a change in the way we shop, making a shift in the non-binary direction. Gender-neutral beauty has become a centre when it comes to skincare and makeup, eventually leading to a massive change in social norms as well. "The Manish Malhotra Beauty by MyGlamm consumer is strong, aspirational, determined and unapologetically themselves and we believe in celebrating individuals and embracing authenticity to the fullest," states Manish Malhotra.
Makeup has always been a celebration of your own personal style and is eventually the best way to express without any restrictions to gender. "Our philosophy deeply resonates with the idea that beauty is not gender specific. Manish Malhotra Beauty by MyGlamm is a brand for all," he further adds.
From Celebrated Couturier To Beauty Entrepreneur: An Enthralling Journey
His name has association which is larger-than-life. Think of Manish Malhotra today and all that rushes to our minds is glamour and unexpected designs; which has always been a diverse celebration of traditions and much more. After curating and styling looks for blockbusters like Kuch Kuch Hota Hai (1998), Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge (1995), Yeh Jawaani Hai Diwani (2013) and much more, the designer decided to foray into his passion of creating beauty for everyone and with their third anniversary this year, the brand launched its first ever TVC "Backstage to Backstreets'' with an aim to cater to every individual.
"During this three-year journey as an entrepreneur and collaborator, I am amazed at what we have created this year and most importantly humbled by the positive response received by our customers. The road to becoming the leading premium cosmetics brand in India in such a short time is truly remarkable," he elaborates.
Self-Expression Is The Way Forward
With beauty positivity and embracing natural textures ruling the sphere, beauty has become a way of expressing yourself. "I see makeup as an art of expressing yourself. Our bodies are the canvas where we can express every tiny bit of ourselves without feeling judged. I feel makeup is very personal and individualistic and can really help someone express themselves. Good skin is half the battle won when it comes to feeling good and for that it's important to follow a routine that works for you and your skin type," elaborates Manish Malhotra.
We absolutely love modern punk and more trends but post-pandemic, the beauty trends have been more about being comfortable in your own skin. "More than anything the major trend is embracing who you are. Radical self-expression and flaunting your real skin are the trend," says Malhotra. He further adds, "Next is minimalist skincare. Reduce usage of too many products and give your skin time to breathe well. Redefinition of masculinity in the grooming industry will flourish. Y2K fashion will take a lead and pay homage to the nineties by promoting creative, celebratory looks and enhancing natural textures."
