What's the best companion for a laidback, carefree weekend? A large wicker tote, a floaty maxi, thong sandals and a couple of cocktails, we think. Yet, Neha Dhupia gives us one more to add to that list - a messy bun hairstyle with a few stray strands left effortlessly around her temples. We know it's only the mid-week and all but this hairstyle right here transports us to a sunny Saturday afternoon. Want to try Neha Dhupia's cool girl messy bun? Now you can with these hairstyling tips.
Step 1 - Gather your hair in one hand and use a brush like Kent's Large Detangling Paddle Brush to brush it thoroughly from the hairline to the ends.
(You may wonder why we're brushing when it's called a messy bun; the key to this hairstyle is groomed messiness, not untidiness. We want Neha Dhupia's shiny, effortless look, not an unflattering mop of hair - keep that in mind.)
Step 2 - Next, spritz the entire length of your hair with a texturising spray like Toni & Guy's Sea Salt Spray. This will lend those covetable waves to the base of the bun.
Step 3 - At the bottom of the crown, somewhere in the centre of the back of the head, tie the whole length of the hair into a ponytail.
Step 4 - Then roll the length of hair around the base of the ponytail until all the hair is used up. Use bobby pins like Elite Model's Bobby Pins to hold it firmly in place without being visible.
Step 5 - For that finishing touch, loosen a few hair sections on the base of the head, as seen in Neha Dhupia's hairstyle. Then remove a few strands from either side of the head near the temple. Come Saturday and we're sure you'll be sporting this hairstyle.
