What's the wackiest thing you can find on the Internet today? It's not the cat memes anymore. ICYMI, Balenciaga is back to making headlines. But this time it's a bit controversial. The luxury fashion brand is known for its spectacular collection and is endorsed by several top-notch celebrities for their red carpet appearances. What could've possibly gone wrong this time? Well, it's the latest collection of Balenciaga Paris sneakers that was launched this Monday. It's a collection of sneakers that have been severely worn out and heavily distressed. The limited-edition “extra destroyed” sneakers come at a mind-boggling price of $1,850 (Rs 1.42 lakh approx). Apart from this, the brand will sell unlimited less-destroyed sneakers at $495 (Rs 38,000 approx) and $625 (Rs 48,000 roughly) in two different styles.
According to reports, the brand is promoting these Paris sneakers as "a retooled classic design which interprets mid-century athleticism and timeless casual wear in black, white, or red, with a white rubber sole and toe with distressed canvas and rough edges, affecting a pre-worn look."
Twitter is flooded with comments and memes about these distressed sneakers. While some users believe that the new collection is a mere “troll”, others are busy mocking the company's decision. A person wrote, “Balenciaga gotta be a social experiment.”

Referring to how Balenciaga is selling their sneaker but in a destroyed form, a user drew an analogy. He posted the photo of a destroyed aeroplane and captioned it, “Balenciaga Airlines.”

In another meme, we see a girl trying to swing using a rope. But then, she falls into a puddle of dirty water. The caption read, “No one:” and added, “The new Balenciaga sneakers:” The video described the rest.
